The Dominican Republic once again demonstrated its growing commitment to wellness by ranking fifth among 195 participating countries in World Wellness Weekend 2026, following a weekend that brought together individuals, organizations, communities, and wellness professionals through a wide range of experiences.
In its tenth edition, World Wellness Weekend brought wellness activities to different locations across the country, including hotels, beaches, parks, gyms, sports facilities, educational institutions, and local communities.
The program featured yoga, meditation, Biodanza, Sound Healing, art therapy, hiking, marathons, and a variety of sports activities. Children also took part in experiences focused on mental well-being, mindful eating, and other wellness practices. Environmental initiatives, including beach cleanups and reforestation activities, were also part of the program.
A Growing Wellness Movement in the Dominican Republic
One of the highlights of this year’s edition was the participation, for the first time, of eight municipalities from the same country in World Wellness Weekend: the National District, Punta Cana, La Romana, Villa Hermosa, Las Galeras, Miches, Las Terrenas, and Cabarete.
This participation demonstrates how wellness can extend beyond traditional wellness spaces and become an initiative that connects communities, institutions, businesses, and professionals from different fields.
Spa Natural Center also joined this international celebration as part of the organizations committed to promoting wellness experiences and a culture of self-care.
Through our facilities and our diverse range of wellness experiences, we continue to create spaces where people can connect with movement, relaxation, body awareness, and overall well-being.
The People Behind the Movement
Behind an initiative of this scale are more than scheduled activities. There are people sharing their knowledge, organizations opening their spaces, communities getting involved, and volunteers helping make each experience possible.
Flavio Acuña, founder and CEO of Spa Natural Center, wellness tourism advocate in the Dominican Republic, and World Wellness Weekend Emeritus Ambassador, expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to this year’s edition.
His appreciation extends to every volunteer, participant, facilitator, teacher, organization, company, community, and partner who chose to be part of this movement and contributed their time, knowledge, and energy.
The Dominican Republic’s fifth-place ranking is, above all, the result of a collective effort that continues to grow year after year.
Wellness as Part of Our Identity
World Wellness Weekend provides an opportunity to remember that wellness can be experienced in many different ways: through movement, connection with nature, creative expression, rest, physical activity, mindful eating, and meaningful connection with others.
For the Dominican Republic, it also represents an opportunity to continue strengthening its presence within the wellness industry and wellness tourism, showcasing the diversity of experiences that can be developed throughout the country.
At Spa Natural Center, we believe wellness should adapt to different needs and lifestyles. That is why we offer massages, therapies, wellness activities, and individual or group experiences designed to complement a day dedicated to personal well-being.
